The blog has already taken you on a foodie tour around Töölö and my absolute favourite of all her streets: Museokatu. This time we're venturing out of the comfort of my neighbourhood Töölö and into the city centre. Next stop: Bulevardi, quite a foodie destination in its own right!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so let's start with that. One of my favourite places, year in, year out, for making even weekday mornings just a little bit more fun is Cafe Ekberg, where we recently spoiled ourselves rotten with afternoon tea. At €11,50 it's definitely worth it and comes with an array of sweet treats, too. PS. Fridays are the best!
And don't forget to check out the bakery next door, where they make all their goodies from scratch. When ever taking foreign friends on a tour of Helsinki, this is always on my list of places to visit. Not least because of their florentines...

But if it's weekend, I recommend a lie-in, late morning and kicking the day off over brunch. Klaus K Boutique Hotel offers a nice setting for this. Perfect for catching up with friends - great service guaranteed.
Like with their Christmas dinner, there's a (quality!) buffet for starters and desserts while mains are served at the table. The only bad thing was scramble, but then again, it's something that never should be served in a buffet. A special thanks for the bright vitamin shots and brilliant sour dough bread they make themselves.

If Italy is close to your heart, you might want to check out the antipasti buffet at Tony's Deli (€14,90). Great for after work fun. Their foccaccia is ah-maz-ing and can these be purchased to go, too.
The place next door continues the Italian theme. Casa Italia is one of the best things to happen to Helsinki in a while. It's a delightful little piece of Italy in the middle of Helsinki with a staff that makes everybody instantly feel so welcome it's almost as if you stepped into the home of your Italian family you never knew you had.
Fantastic Italian charcuterie (San Daniele prosciutto!) and cheeses are available to sample on the premises or to take home with you. And even if at this point of the tour you're not exactly hungry, do pop over for a glass of wine. I mean, where in Helsinki are you going to get Barolo by the glass?

There's more to Bulevardi than this though: it takes you on a culinary tour from West to East (to say the least)!
Second recent favourite is Levant, which to us immediately claimed the title for best Middle Eastern in town. So good, so fresh. Exactly what I've been longing for after all the wintry comfort foods!
Our recommendations? Levant roll and meze platter. And you definitely should give their freshly squeezed lemon and mint juice a go. And you know what? Everything they serve is vegetarian!

Bulevardi has plenty to offer for foodies, outside food, too. It's also home to Chez Marius, a kitchenware paradise the services of which we use a lot. Last time they rescued me from the throes of a sudden gravyboatenvycrisis (what - you've never had one of those?)

At the beginning of Bulevardi, right off Mannerheimintie, there's also Granit; another shop the crockery-loving, food photography styling prop-hoarding yours truly finds impossible to leave empty-handed.
Not bad for one little street, huh?
